Yogyakarta, February 11, 2025 – SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) welcomed representatives from Sebangku for a product introduction session at SEAQiM Conference Room. Sebangku is an edutech company specializing in developing educational games, training programs, and literacy initiatives. Their core business focuses on creating engaging and interactive learning experiences through board games and digital platforms. The company aims to provide families safe, comfortable, and enjoyable educational products and services.
During the session, SEAQiM Director Dr. Sumardyono highlighted the challenges posed by the Ministry of Education’s directive on efficiency. “This challenge serves as a motivation for SEAQiM to build meaningful collaborations with various stakeholders. We are delighted to welcome Sebangku today and look forward to exploring opportunities for future partnerships that can enhance mathematics education,” Dr. Sumardyono stated.
The event featured a presentation by Mr. Rizky, M.Kom, who introduced Marica, an innovative mathematics learning platform developed by Sebangku. Designed to make mathematics both engaging and accessible, Marica serves as a Mathematics Learning Centre, offering fun and interactive learning media that help children develop confidence and competence in math.
Marica adopts an approach to teach primary mathematics used by Singapore called PCA (Picture Concrete Abstract), ensuring an optimal learning sequence that begins with concrete concepts, progresses to pictorial representations, and concludes with abstract understanding. The product is available in both printed (books and kits) and digital formats (story animations and learning videos).
As SEAQiM continues to seek partnerships that align with its mission, the introduction of Marica marks an exciting prospect for innovative learning solutions. With this introduction, SEAQiM looks forward to exploring potential collaborations with Sebangku in mathematics education.
