OKU Come Back to SEAQiM for Inspiring Training on Media and Innovation in Mathematics Learning

Yogyakarta, 14 February 2025 – In a concerted effort to enhance the quality of mathematics education, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) conducted a specialized training program titled “Pelatihan Media dan Inovasi Pembelajaran Matematika untuk Guru Matematika SMP Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu”. The one-day intensive training took place at the SEAQiM Conference Room in Yogyakarta, bringing together 31 dedicated educators to integrate digital tools into their teaching.

The opening session was attended by the Board of Directors of SEAQiM, who welcomed the participants, alongside representatives from the OKU Regency Education Office, including Agus Riswanto, ST, Head of Institutional and Infrastructure Affairs for Junior High Schools, and Dewi Susanti, S.Pd., MM, Chair of the Junior High School Principals’ Working Group (MKKS SMP).

In his opening speech, Agus Riswanto, ST, encouraged participants to engage actively with SEAQiM trainers and ask questions regarding challenges faced in their classrooms. “After returning from this training, I hope the teachers will use the knowledge gained to make mathematics more enjoyable for OKU students”, he emphasized.

The training was officially opened by Dr Sumardyono, SEAQiM Director, who warmly welcomed the participants and expressed his hope that the event would significantly contribute to the advancement of mathematics education in OKU Regency.

The one-day intensive training provided teachers with hands-on experience integrating digital tools into their mathematics lessons. It covered Interactive Digital Media Development with GeoGebra and Interactive Digital Worksheet Creation with Desmos.

Participants were guided through practical sessions where they learned to design engaging digital learning materials using these powerful tools. The aim was to equip them with innovative strategies that can transform their classrooms into interactive and joyful learning environments.

This initiative marks another milestone in SEAQiM’s efforts to foster innovation in mathematics teaching, ensuring that learners in OKU Regency and beyond can experience a more engaging and effective learning process.
