Yogyakarta – New technologies offer teachers a wide new range of possibilities and tools, but not without challenges. ICT can be a muddy environment and approaching it without proper guidance and practical training can be a time-consuming task.
SEAQiM answers the challenges by conducting a course on integrating ICT in mathematics education for two weeks from 21 August to 3 September 2019. The course was participated by 31 teachers from 9 SEAMEO Member Countries namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Becoming the integral part of the course was the use of GeoGebra for high school mathematics. The Centre invited Professor Allan L. White to teach the topic to the course participants. He is an emeritus professor from the University of Western Sydney who has an expertise in ICT in mathematics education.
The participant had many meaningful experiences learning the use of GeoGebra which is a dynamic mathematics software for all levels of education that brings together geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics and calculus in one easy-to-use package. They also had time to share ideas and practice among other.
