Yogyakarta – Although education in Indonesia has been being badly hit by the pandemic of COVID-19, SEAQiM keeps conducting a series of virtual activities using zoom platform. On September 1-2, 2020, the Centre successfully conducted a workshop focusing on STEM Education which was participated by fifty-two students and sixteen lecturers of Mathematics Study Program, Tarbiyah Faculty, IAIN Kediri.
In the opening ceremony, which was attended by SEAQiM Board of Directors, the Dean of Tarbiyah Faculty of IAIN Kediri, Dr. H. Ali Anwar, thanked SEAQiM for the opportunity and really expected that the participants would gain much valuable knowledge on STEM for mathematics learning from the workshop. On the next sessions, the discussion ranged over various of topic, such as STEM Education Concepts and Framework, STEM Education Hands-on Activities, and STEM Activities for Senior and Junior High Schools.
SEAQiM Specialists from whom the participants learnt how to integrate STEM in mathematics classroom, Mrs. Pasttita Ayu Laksmiwati, Mr. Wahid Yunianto, and Mrs. I G.A. Russasmita Sri Padmi, also gave the participants some tasks to do. Interestingly, the online platform which basically has some features allows the facilitators and the participants to have a more interactive discussion, such as answering and questioning via chat room.
