Workshop on Academic Writing/Coaching Clinic for 7th ISMEI – stage 2: Focusing on Research Paper Development

Yogyakarta- SEAQiM has organised an online workshop on academic writing intending to help participants refine their manuscripts to meet the standard of academic writing and prepare them according to the Atlantis Press template. The workshop was held on 29 – 31 March 2023 and attended by 33 participants virtually through Zoom Meeting.

As stage 1, in this stage 2, Dr Sharon Locke, Director of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) STEM Center, is acting as the resource person assisted by SEAQiM Specialists, namely Ms Russamita, Ms Tyas, Ms Ummy and Ms Miftahul. The workshop included informative sessions on Developing Results, Discussion, and Conclusion; Developing Abstract; Referencing and Citation; followed by tutorial on formatting the manuscript.. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in interactive exercises and receive feedback on their writing from the workshop facilitators.

In the opening ceremony, the Director of SEAQiM, Dr Sumardyono, said, “I hope this workshop can raise your ability to write academically. I believe your manuscript can be improved to high quality so that it can be submitted to academic publications such as ATLANTIS”.

The workshop was well-received by the participants, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to enhance their academic writing skills. They found the workshop engaging, informative and relevant to their academic pursuits. The participants also thanked SEAQiM for organising the workshop and providing them with a valuable learning experience.
