Yogyakarta – A total of 31 primary school teachers from 8 SEAMEO Countries have participated in the opening ceremony of the Course on Joyful Learning in Mathematics Education for Primary School Teachers on 24 Augusts 2016 at the Gamma Room, PPPPTK Matematika. The opening ceremony was also attended by the management and staff of SEAQiM as well as a representative from PPPPTK Matematika, Mr. Yoga Kartika Wulan.
It was stated by the Course Supervisor, Mr. Punang Amaripuja, that the participants consists of 2 primary school teachers from Brunei Darussalam, 1 primary school teacher from each Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam and 23 primary school teachers from Indonesia. He further motivated them to derive benefit from the course by strengthening networking among mathematics teachers in Southeast Asia.
The course was officially opened by the Director of SEAQiM. In his remark he said “When we are doing a thing with likes, it is an enjoyment. But, when we are doing the same thing with dislikes, it is a punishment”. At the end of his remark Prof. Subanar, Ph.D. also expected all participants to make mathematics classroom a joyful place for children.
