Bangkok, 16 July 2024—The S31 Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok was the venue for the significant event, the 3rd SEAMEO Strategic Workshop on Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEL). This workshop brought together key participants, including Dr. Sumardyono and Agus Limbang Wardani, to further advance the development of the SEAMEO Result Framework and MEL Strategy.
The Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat opened the event by highlighting the importance of the ongoing MEL development process, which began last year. He emphasized that this process is crucial for data integration and necessary for future policy-making. Mr. Ansgar Schaefer from the SEAMEO Secretariat and Mr. Bart Van Halteren from MDF Asia facilitated the workshop, and they provided their expertise and guidance throughout the sessions.
This third workshop is a continuation of the previous two workshops that started in 2023. The initiative by the SEAMEO Secretariat aims to establish a comprehensive SEAMEO Result Framework and MEL Strategy to be used by all Centres. This unified framework serves as a benchmark for monitoring, evaluating, and learning from activities related to SEAMEO’s seven Priority Areas.
The objectives of this MEL Workshop were to review the final draft of the SEAMEO Result Framework, discuss the impact on the MEL Strategy, and deliberate on the outcomes of the MEL Strategy pilot study and the appropriate platform.
The workshop facilitated in-depth discussions and collaborative efforts among the participants, setting the stage for the finalization and implementation of the MEL Strategy. The participants expressed their commitment to integrating the insights from this workshop into their respective Centres, aiming to enhance data-driven decision-making processes and improve educational outcomes across the SEAMEO region.
