Wednesday, 5 May 2021 – SEAQiM successfully conducted an online talkshow entitled “Curahan Hati Belajar Matematika Selama Pandemic”. This event, in which more than 100 participants joined virtually through Zoom and Youtube Live Streaming, was series of celebrating Indonesian National Education Day 2021 and Pekan Pendidikan Jogja.
The talkshow featured Dr Gogot Suharwoto (Education Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, South Korea), Dr Sumardyono (SEAQiM Director), Ms Kucisti Ike Retnaningtyas (SEAQiM alumni, YouTuber, and mother of four), Mr Wahid Yunianto (SEAQiM Specialist Coordinator), and Mr Bungkus Dias Prasetyo (SEAQiM Specialist).
Firstly, Dr Gogot shared the strength of Korean education, where students were encouraged to engage in project-based activities. Moreover, he mentioned that the Korean government also provided junior and senior high school students with opportunities to participate in research activities. Following after, Dr Sumardyono emphasized SEAQiM programmes that promote meaningful and joyful mathematics learning in Southeast Asia. While Ms Ike shared the challenges of teaching during the pandemic and implementing STEM project-based learning in her school, Mr Wahid talked briefly about how to hone students’ higher-order thinking skills. Mr Bungkus added by suggesting some legal and free platform to support mathematics learning according to each school’s needs.
The moderator, Ms Mariana Susanti from Balai Pengembangan Media Radio Pendidikan Yogyakarta, energetically chaired the talkshow, leading to a lively discussion between the participants and the panellists.
