SEAQIM Successfully Concludes the Regular Course on Differentiated Instruction

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQIM) successfully organized the Regular Course on Differentiated Instruction from 13 to 26 August 2025. This flagship annual program brought together mathematics educators from across Southeast Asia to deepen their understanding and practice of differentiated instruction in mathematics teaching and learning.

The course was attended by 28 participants representing 7 SEAMEO member countries. The participants consisted of mathematics teachers, teacher educators, and education officials who are committed to advancing mathematics education in their respective countries. The diversity of backgrounds and experiences created a rich learning environment, where participants could exchange ideas, share challenges, and explore solutions together.

Over the course of two weeks, participants engaged in a variety of activities, including lectures, discussions, workshops, group work, and teaching simulations. The sessions were facilitated by distinguished experts from universities and partner institutions, who provided both theoretical perspectives and practical approaches to implementing differentiated instruction in mathematics classrooms. Topics ranged from understanding learners’ diverse needs, designing inclusive lesson plans, developing assessment strategies, and integrating technology to support differentiated learning.

One of the highlights of the program was the collaborative project, where participants worked in groups to design innovative teaching scenarios applying the principles of differentiated instruction. These projects were then presented and reflected upon in the final sessions, showcasing creative and contextually relevant strategies that participants can apply in their home institutions.

The closing ceremony marked the culmination of the course, where participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn and network with colleagues from different countries. They also emphasized their commitment to bringing new insights and skills back to their schools and communities.

The successful completion of this Regular Course once again demonstrates SEAQIM’s commitment to empowering mathematics teachers and educators in Southeast Asia, equipping them with knowledge and skills to respond to the diverse needs of learners and to improve the overall quality of mathematics education in the region.
