Yogyakarta, 30 July 2026 — SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FTIK), Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid (GUSDUR) Pekalongan, on 30 July 2026. The visit was conducted as part of preparations for the deployment of UIN GUSDUR students to their internship programme at SEAQiM in October 2026.
The visit was held under the terms of the cooperation agreement between SEAQiM and FTIK UIN GUSDUR. The delegation was represented by Ms Santika Lya Diah P., Ms Heni Lilia Devi, and four prospective internship students.
In welcoming the delegation, the Director of SEAQiM expressed her appreciation for the visit and highlighted several opportunities and activities that the students could engage in during their internship period from October to December 2026.
The Director explained that the internship would involve several stages and encouraged the students to prepare a proposal in English outlining their objectives, expected outcomes, and activities for the internship period. This proposal would help SEAQiM and the students establish a shared understanding of the programme and determine suitable mentors to support their work.
She also highlighted several activities that may provide opportunities for the interns to contribute, including the International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation (ISMEI) in October. The students were encouraged to explore ways in which they could support these programmes.
Another area of potential contribution is social media and publication engagement. The Director encouraged the students to develop creative campaign ideas that promote joyful mathematics learning and to apply their communication and content-creation skills to present mathematics in an engaging way.
The visit concluded with a commitment from both SEAQiM and FTIK UIN GUSDUR Pekalongan to continue coordinating the internship programme and to explore meaningful opportunities for students to contribute to SEAQiM’s educational, social, and community-oriented activities.
