SEAQiM Course Participants Implement Innovative Teaching Aids at Sekolah Teladan Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, May 6, 2024 – Participants of the Course on Teacher-Made Mathematics Teaching Aids for Primary School Teachers, conducted by SEAQiM from April 24 to May 7, 2024, recently applied their skills obtained during a two-week course in real classroom settings at Sekolah Teladan Yogyakarta. This real teaching marks a significant step in enhancing the mathematics learning experience by using customized teaching aids adjusted to the specific needs of their students.

Ms Ririn Restu Amelia, the principal of the Primary School of Sekolah Teladan Yogyakarta, expressed his excitement about the program’s implementation: “The collaboration with SEAQiM has brought new innovative teaching aids developed by participants are making a profound difference in student engagement and understanding that Sekolah Teladan’s teachers can implement.”

During the real teaching phase, teachers actively incorporate their custom-made teaching aids into daily lessons. These aids include interactive models, hands-on activities, visual aids, and educational games designed to simplify complex mathematical concepts and make learning more interactive and enjoyable.

Students have responded enthusiastically to the teaching aids used in their classroom. Every feedback from both teachers and students has been overwhelmingly positive. SEAQiM’s collaboration with Sekolah Teladan Yogyakarta exemplifies a successful professional development model for teachers, emphasizing the practical application of teaching aids.

After implementing real teaching, participants returned to SEAQiM to reflect on and refine their action plans for implementation in their respective schools. One day after real teaching, they accomplished all the regular course schedules and tasks.

As the closing remark from SEAQiM Deputy Director for Programme, Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, represented SEAQiM Director, “Congratulations on your accomplishments in completing the comprehensive course agenda. Now is your time to prove that you can implement and disseminate all the knowledge gained from SEAQiM to your students and fellow teachers”.

Through its courses, SEAQiM continues to encourage the acceleration and equality of education in Indonesia, especially in mathematics.
