SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) in collaboration with Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir and Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu marks its successful in organising the Mathematics Camp Workshop in 14-18 March 2022. This success is also supported by the SEAMEO Secretariat and The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, also known as MEXT Japan.
30 Junior High School Mathematics teachers, consisting of each 15 teachers from Kabupaten Ogan Ilir and Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu, have joined the Camp in Griya Persada Convention Hotel & Resort Kaliurang, Yogyakarta. This Math Camp is unlike an ordinary camp; this camp is unique since the participants have not stayed in a tent, and they were experiencing hybrid learning during the sessions. On this occasion, they also learned various materials from the invited experts. Namely Prof Takuya baba from Japan, Mr Allan White from Australia, Dr Adi Nurcahyono from State University of Semarang (UNNES), Mr Fariz Seyawan from Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) and the SEAQiM specialists.
In addition, the participants were not only experience learning with the experts but also got some knowledge. They learned about some challenging topics: the different types of lessons and tasks, the concepts and principles of Integrating ICT in mathematics classrooms, technological pedagogical content knowledge, problem-solving in mathematics, computational thinking and programming, building manipulative-interactive media with the application, and many more.
As the academic supervisor, Mr Bungkus Dias Prasetyo expected the programs could help teachers develop the skills and knowledge needed to face the challenges and improve their mathematics classroom.
