Yogyakarta – Today, 25 February, SEAQiM just accomplished its first International Webinar in 2021 entitled Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Mathematics Education: Where is It Now and What is the Future? More than 500 audiences from Southeast Asia and beyond participated in International Webinar Series virtually via Zoom and YouTube Live Streaming.
The webinar aims at providing updated information to teachers and educators on knowledge and the ability to implement an equitable and high-quality integration AI in mathematics teaching and learning. Like the previously held international webinars series, in today’s event, SEAQiM proudly presented expertise in the chosen topic, namely Prof. R Ramanujam (the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, India), Ms Janice Jin (Weidong Cloud Education Group, China), and Dr Andreas Matt (IMAGINARY, Germany).
The first keynote address, featuring Prof. R Ramanujam, was chaired by Dr Inggriani Liem from Bebras Indonesia. He mainly talked about the disruptive and transformative potential of AI in mathematics education and the problems that AI could solve. In addition to this, he delivered old challenges and new prospects of AI in such a lively presentation. Following this, Ms Janice Jin, the Vice President of Weidong Cloud Education Group, shared about best practice remote training in China during Covid-19, especially by using the WeLMS platform to perform daily teaching and learning activities for teachers and students. Dr Mariam Othman from SEAMEO RECSAM, Malaysia, chaired her session. The last keynote address, emphasizing an AI-based platform supporting mathematics teaching and learning, figured Dr Andreas Matt and Dr Farida Nurhasanah of SEAQiM had the chance to chair his presentation.
