Yogyakarta – SEAQiM successfully organized its 10th Governing Board Meeting (SEAQiM). The event was officially closed on 19 September 2019 by SEAQiM Director, Dr. Sumardyono, at Jasmin 1 Meeting Room, Grand Dafam Rohan Hotel, Yogyakarta.
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to all Governing Board Members and the representatives for your contribution to making the meeting so fruitful”, he said in his closing speech.
GBM is an annual event where each SEAMEO Centre and Network seeks suggestions and approval from the Governing Board (GB) Members regarding their achievements and proposed programme within one fiscal year. SEAQiM’s 10th GBM was participated by eight GB Members and the Representative of SEAMEO Member Countries. The GB Members from Myanmar, Philippines, and Timor Leste were unable to directly participate in this meeting due to duty concerns. The SEAMEO Secretariat also sent its Deputy Director for Administration and Communication (DDAC), Mr. Prasert Tenapart, to participate in this annual meeting.
During the successive two days, the Centre presented 10 Working Papers and it has resulted some decisions, approval, endorsement, and acknowledgement taken by the GB Members and the Representatives.
SEAQiM Director stated that this GBM will bring this Centre to find a clearer future direction especially to improve the quality of mathematics teachers and education personnel in Southeast Asia region.
On the last day, the meeting participants paid a visit to the Centre’s office which is not located so far from the venue. They were introduced to the process of making eco-print batik by women community of Kampung STEM Joho, a community service programme initiated by SEAQiM. The participants later went on an excursion to Borobudur Temple.
