This year, SEAQiM is honoured to get another opportunity as invited speakers at APEC-Tsukuba and UNESCO (MGIEP) International Conference XI in University of Tsukuba, Japan. Dr.Wahyudi and Mr. Fadjar Shadiq who represented SEAQiM had the privilege to presented “Expected Works of SEAMEO Centres for SEAMEO Priority Areas” in this annual event.
This four-day conference, from 9 to 12 February 2017, theme was Innovation on Mathematics Education through Lesson Study: Textbook Development for SDGs, STEM, and Energy by Cross-border Education and it is attended by not only SEAMEO and APEC Economies representatives but also some prominent mathematics educators from Asia, Europe, and America. In relation to the topic, the participants had chance to learn a lot from Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), an institute under UNESCO specialises education for peace and sustainable development to foster global citizenship.

Becoming the integral part of the APEC-Tsukuba and UNESCO (MGIEP) International Conference XI was SEAMEO-University of Tsukuba Symposium V. This internal symposium mainly discussed the SEAMEO 7 Priority Areas and SEAMEO collaboration.
Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela, the Deputy Director for Programme and Development of SEAMES, spoke of SEAMEO 7 Priority Areas toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) in Southeast Asia and in respond to this call each SEAMEO Centre demonstrated its roles in supporting the programmes.
“We have developed mathematics teaching and learning for Disaster Risk Reduction, and today, we are preparing for energy efficiency in mathematics education”, said Dr Wahyudi in his presentation as he emphasized the roles of SEAQiM toward SEAMEO 7 Priority Areas.
On another occasion Mr. Fadjar Shadiq stated, “I believe that the textbook development for SDGs, STEM, and Energy by Cross-border Education discussed in the conference can be used to boost mathematics educators in APEC Economies”.
The report of the textbook development conducted by each participating countries will be reported on the next conference in Khon Kaen University, Thailand. All the best for participating countries in supporting the development. Good luck and see you next conference.
