Yogyakarta: A total of 38 primary school teachers from four SEAMEO Member Countries, consisting of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand, just completed their participation in SEAQiM 2021’s first Regular Course. This regular course, entitled Integrating ICT in Mathematics Education, was conducted virtually on 5 – 26 March 2021.
This event featured the SEAQiM academic team and two invited facilitators, namely Prof. Iwan Pranoto (Bandung Institute of Technology), Dr.rer.nat Adi Nurcahyo (Semarang State University). Over the two-week class, the participants learnt a lot from them some knowledge and skills related to integrating ICT in primary school mathematics teaching and learning. They cover but are not limited to developing mathematics games, building manipulative-interactive media and digital activity with an application, and simple programming and coding. By working in a group, the participant also performed real teaching by virtually teaching the students of SD Canggu Community School, Indonesia.
At the end of the programme, the three best participants were selected based on academic merit. The first best participant went to Ms Adelia S. Abadi (Sekolah Pelita Harapan Pluit Village, Indonesia). Ms Sri Suyanti (SD Canggu Community School, Indonesia) and Mr Joemar P. Soriano (Puguis Elementary School, the Philippines) took second and third place.
