
On November 18, 2022, a seminar on STEM for Mathematics Learning was conducted by Cleofe M. Lacbao, a respected educator, at Don Eulegio De Guzman Memorial National High School. The seminar was attended by 15 enthusiastic teachers from the said school. The main topic of the seminar was the integration of project-based learning model in STEM for Mathematics Education.
The seminar started with Mr. Lacbao providing a brief background on the importance of sharing knowledge and collaborating in the field of education. He emphasized that learning is a continuous process and that it is vital for teachers to share their knowledge and expertise with their colleagues and students. Mr. Lacbao believes that by sharing what he has learned, he can contribute to the development of great leaders who are equipped with 21st-century learning skills.
The aims of Mr. Lacbao’s dissemination were clearly stated. He aimed to improve the skills and knowledge of his colleagues, develop innovations in mathematics teaching and learning, conduct researches that would address problems in the use of STEM in mathematics education, inform and educate the community about STEM in mathematics education, raise awareness among other mathematics teachers, and develop teachers who are competent and competitive in STEM education.
To disseminate his knowledge, Mr. Lacbao utilized various methods. He published an article in a local newspaper, highlighting the amazing impact of STEM learning in junior high school mathematics education. The article discussed his research on the effectiveness of project-based learning in enhancing students’ creative thinking skills. This publication allowed him to reach a wider audience and share his findings with the community.
Additionally, Mr. Lacbao conducted conferences and workshops on STEM learning. During these sessions, he was able to convince his colleagues to apply the learnings shared, specifically the use of STEM lesson plans, to help students excel in their mathematics education. These conferences and workshops provided a platform for interactive discussions and allowed teachers to exchange ideas and experiences.
Overall, the seminar on STEM for Mathematics Learning conducted by Cleofe M. Lacbao was a success. The participants were engaged and showed great enthusiasm in learning about the integration of project-based learning in STEM education. Mr. Lacbao’s dissemination methods, such as publishing articles and conducting conferences, effectively spread his knowledge and expertise to a wider audience.
