Yogyakarta, Indonesia – On October 28, 2024, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) made an impactful visit to the SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) as part of an ongoing effort to foster collaboration in educational advancement for mathematics at the graduate level. This event, held at Meeting Room A SEAQiM’s, brought together representatives from UNJ to explore the future of mathematics education in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
Representing UNJ, Dr. Meiliasari, S.Pd., M.Sc., Dr. Puspita Sari, S.Pd., M.Sc., and Qorry Meidianingsih, M.Si. led this pivotal visit, aiming to discuss opportunities for partnership and knowledge exchange with SEAQiM. SEAQiM has consistently been a hub of innovation in mathematics education, providing resources, training, and collaborative programs that benefit educators across Southeast Asia. The meeting provided a strategic platform for discussing various aspects of mathematics education development, focusing on how SEAQiM’s resources and initiatives could further support and enrich UNJ’s graduate-level mathematics teaching and learning.
Held from 13.30 – 15.00, the session highlighted both institutions’ commitment to empowering future mathematics educators with essential pedagogical skills and advanced knowledge. By sharing expertise and experiences, the leaders discussed potential projects, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions designed to raise the standard of mathematics education, align with global standards, and create tangible impacts in the classroom.
