Tuesday, 24 January 2023, seventeen (17) students and six (6) lecturer from Sultan Agung Islamic University (Unissula), Semarang, gathered at Conference Room, SEAQiM. The activities split into Workshop STEM on Mathematics Education and MoA Signing between SEAQiM and Unissula.
Dr Hevy Risqi Maharani, Study Program Head of Mathematics Education at Unissula, expressed her gratitude to SEAQiM for facilitating the students with a very thoughtful workshop. Furthermore, from the MoA signing, foster start future collaborations. Shortly after, Dr Sumardyono, Director of SEAQiM, accompanied by Dra. Puji Iryanti, M.Sc.Ed., Deputy Director for Administration, warmly welcomed all the colleagues from Unissula in his opening remark.
MoA Signing Session begins with an introduction to the SEAQiM’s programs and personnel and an introduction to the types of collaboration and cooperation by the Director of SEAQiM. It took place at the SEAQiM meeting room, and the activity ran well. By signing the MoA, SEAQiM and Unissula are officially cooperating to improve the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia and beyond for five years. The following agenda is hospitality wrapped in the form of a focus group discussion which is led by Deputy Director of Administration. The FGD session summarizes the lively discussion and possible collaboration that SEAQiM and Unissula will be carrying out. The discussions on the possibility of training for students and lecturers, apprenticeship programs, expert exchanges, the ‘Kampus Merdeka’ program, also program related to ICT, Geogebra, and STE(A)M topics.
Meanwhile, at the same time, as a starting point for collaboration, the workshop session was held in Conference Room, facilitated by Mr Yoga Utama and Ms Ummy Salmah, training specialists from SEAQiM. The students learned and explored STEM and its implementation in mathematics and Engineering Design Processes. At the end of the session, they practised making Paper Helicopters. They made a prototype paper helicopter according to rules and instructions and thought about how to make the paper helicopter long-lasting fly in the air. The longest one is the best.
