Yogyakarta – Thursday, 17 March 2016, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics began its special education mathematics training programme for 30 elementary school teachers coming from various schools in Yogyakarta. They are the members of KKG Gugus Deresan, KKG itself stands fromKelompok Kerja Guru or Teacher Working Group. This training was packaged in the form of lecturing and discussion which was held at Conference room, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics.
Unlike other training usually conducted by the Centre, in this programme the participants attended the class sessions at the afternoon after they finished the duties at their respective schools. Consisting of eight meetings, the training covered several topics namely lesson study, classroom assessment, project-based learning, mathematics problem solving, mathematics, game, and arts, developing contextual problems, and ICT for mathematics teachers (Edmodo). The participants found those topics very intriguing. That could be seen from their enthusiasm during the class sessions. Becoming the facilitators of the training were Dr. Wahyudi, Mr. Joel Hohn, Mr. Fadjar Shadiq, Ms. Fina Hanifa Hidayati, and Mr. Wahid Yunianto.
The last session of special mathematics education training also signified the closing of the programme. It was conducted on Thursday, 12 May 2016. In that occasion, Prof. Subanar, Ph.D, the Director of the Centre, officially closed the programme. During his remark, Prof. Subanar, Ph.D, thanked the participants for their enthusiasm, he also left an inspiring message that the participants must be whole-hearted to teach their students.
