The strong commitment of LPMP-NTB to support 7 SEAMEO Centres Indonesia (SCI) realising the Merdeka Belajar in Lombok

Nusa Tenggara Barat – in line with The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (MoECRT) of Republic Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar (Freedom Learning) program, SEAQiM and 6 SEAMEO Centre Indonesia (SCI), namely SEAMOLEC, BIOTROP, RECFON, SEAQiL, SEAQiS and CECCEP has joined the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Supporting Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Camp” at 29 September 2021 in Lombok Astoria Hotel, Kota Mataram. This is the collaboration event between SEAQiM and the Regional Agency for Quality Assurance on Education of West Nusa Tenggara Province (LPMP-NTB).

In the FGD, the invited potential partners in Lombok, namely the Education office of NTB Province, Education office of Kota Mataram, Universitas Mataram, Universitas Islam Negeri Mataram, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram, were actively involved in the discussion lead by Dr Elis Rosdiawati, The Deputy Director for Administration of SEAMEO CECCEP. All representatives from 7 SCI were presented and explained their specialisation and possible programme to collaborate with the potential partners in Lombok. Further, it is expected by both sides to have a Memorandum of understanding in the future.

At the opening ceremony, Mr Mustari, PhD, the head of LPMP-NTB, said his commitment to support SEAMEO Centres Indonesia with the conduct of MBKM-Camp as one of the upcoming programmes supporting Merdeka Belajar. He hopes that through SEAMEO, all education stakeholders in Lombok can significantly optimise supporting freedom learning.

As a result of the discussion, the forthcoming event, namely Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Camp, will be held around November as the joint event between SEAMEO, LPMP-NTB and education stakeholders in NTB. It is expected that the contribution of SEAMEO in supporting the MoECRT program can be well documented and directly affected by all stakeholders.
