Strengthening Partnership and Inspiring Teachers: SEAQiM’s Successful In-Country Course

Friday, 16 June 2023 – SEAQiM, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Thailand, has successfully concluded an enriching and productive In-Country Course on Southeast Asia Realistic Mathematics Education (SEA-RME). The course, conducted through Zoom Meetings and Google Classroom from 12 to 16 June 2023, witnessed the active participation of 28 passionate primary school teachers from Thailand.

With the objective of providing teachers with a firsthand experience of the Southeast Asia RME lesson in the context of their own culture and environment, the course proved to be an incredible opportunity for knowledge exchange and best practice sharing among educators from the SEAMEO Member Countries.

Throughout the course, experienced facilitators delivered engaging materials via Zoom Meetings while expertly guiding the participants through Google Classroom. The teachers’ enthusiasm and active involvement during the sessions were truly remarkable, fostering a collaborative and dynamic learning environment.

SEAQiM, a leading institution dedicated to enhancing mathematics education in the Southeast Asian region, aimed to further deepen the understanding and implementation of the RME approach among teachers in Thailand. The organization has been steadfast in its commitment to establishing extensive networks and fostering collaboration in mathematics education throughout the SEAMEO community.

By successfully conducting this In-Country Course, SEAQiM has taken significant strides towards achieving its goal of strengthening the partnership between the institution and the Ministry of Education of Thailand.
