Hanoi – SEAQiM in collaboration with Le Quy Don Primary School dan Vietnam-Australia School sucessfuly conducted In-country Course on Joyful Learning on 1-5 April 2019 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
This course aims at helping teachers to create a joyful atmosphere of learning and teaching mathematics. A total of 60 elementary school and junior high mathematics teachers from Hanoi actively participated in this five-day course. Moreover, SEAQiM sent four of its specialists to facilitate the participants learning process namely Mr. Wahid Yunianto, Ms. Ummy Salmah, Ms. Pastitta Ayu Laksmiwati and Ms. Russasmita Sripadmi.
One of the most exciting topics presented during the course was Mathematics and Arts. In this session, all participants engaged in an amazingly productive activity of creating Ecoprint batik called jumputan.
“Making this kind of thing is the first time in my life,” said one of the participants while trying to create the most beautiful pattern she could.
More importantly, in this first overseas in-country course in 2019, the participants were able to engage in a constructive dialogue about the challenges they usually face while teaching mathematics in class.
