SEAQiM Successfully Conducts In-Country Course on Integrating ICT in Mathematics Education in Malang Regency

The SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM), in collaboration with Matematika Nusantara Malang Regency, successfully conducted the In-Country Course on Integrating ICT in Mathematics Education for Secondary School Mathematics Teachers from 4 to 8 May 2026. The programme took place at SMK Muhammadiyah 7 Gondanglegi and involved 31 mathematics teachers from junior and senior secondary schools across Malang Regency.

The five-day intensive training programme aimed to strengthen teachers’ competencies in integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into mathematics teaching and learning. Through various hands-on sessions, participants explored innovative digital tools and applications that support interactive, engaging, and meaningful mathematics instruction.

The course covered several important topics, including Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK), building digital activities using applications, creating manipulative-interactive media, utilizing ICT to enhance assessment processes, designing learning media using ICT, and integrating ICT into mathematics lesson plans. The facilitators from SEAQiM’s academic team were Gusnandar Yoga Utama, Bungkus Dias Prasetyo, and Wisnuningtyas Wirani.

During the closing ceremony, Agus Setio expressed his appreciation to SEAQiM and all participants for the successful implementation of the programme. He also conveyed his hope for continued collaboration in the future, particularly for teacher training programmes at the primary school level.

Meanwhile, Hidaya Susatri officially closed the programme and expressed her highest appreciation to SEAQiM for its commitment to improving mathematics education. As an alumna of SEAQiM’s regular course, she highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for teachers in adapting to educational transformation in the digital era.

Representing the participants, Urbach Aisa Kemal shared his positive impressions and experiences throughout the course. She stated that the programme challenged participants to learn and explore ICT tools in mathematics education, particularly applications such as GeoGebra and Desmos, which enhanced their understanding of interactive mathematics teaching.

Through this programme, SEAQiM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting mathematics teachers in Southeast Asia by promoting innovative, technology-enhanced teaching practices that foster meaningful and joyful learning experiences in the classroom.
