SEAQiM Strengthens Collaboration with BGP Aceh to Advance Mathematics Education

On December 11, 2024, SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) conducted a collaborative visit to Professional Development Center for Educators of Aceh Province (BGP) Aceh to explore opportunities for enhancing mathematics education and improving teacher competencies in the Aceh region. The SEAQiM delegation, led by Dr. Sumardyono, Centre Director, included Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Deputy Director for Programme, and Ms. Lely Dian Puspita, Staff for Partnership, International Public Relations, and Marketing.

The visit began with a warm welcome from Mr. Yudi Herman, Head of BGP Aceh, who expressed enthusiasm about future collaboration and looked forward to exploring SEAQiM’s program offerings. He emphasized the importance of aligning efforts to improve teacher competencies and mathematics education in Aceh.

Dr. Sri Wulandari presented SEAQiM’s flagship programs, including In-Country Courses, Numeracy Corner, STEM Village, and TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge). BGP Aceh showed a strong interest in participating as a pilot region for the TPACK program to assess teacher competencies and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, they expressed their intention to submit a proposal for the In-Country Course program, aiming for its implementation in 2025.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between SEAQiM and BGP Aceh. Dr. Sumardyono reaffirmed SEAQiM’s support and proposed involving other SEAMEO QITEP centers to maximize the impact of the initiatives in Aceh.

This visit marks a significant step forward in advancing mathematics education in Aceh through innovative programs, strategic partnerships, and a shared vision for educational excellence.
