SEAQIM Hosts Second Webinar on Program Pojok Numerasi, Showcasing Best Practices from Pilot Schools

Yogyakarta, August 28, 2024 – As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing numeracy education in Southeast Asia, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQIM) proudly held its second webinar on Pojok Numerasi titled Webinar 2 Pojok Numerasi: “Berbagi Praktik Baik Sekolah Pilot Program Pojok Numerasi”. The event, conducted online via Zoom, featured insightful presentations from experienced educators who have successfully implemented Program Pojok Numerasi in their schools.

Purposed to inspire participants in developing activities to enhance students’ numeracy skills in schools, this event successfully attracted about 160 participants from around Indonesia and Malaysia.

The webinar featured two distinguished speakers from piloting schools Program Pojok Numerasi who have successfully implemented Program Pojok Numerasi at their respective schools. Miss Siti Khatijah, S.Pd. from SD Negeri Ploso, Kulon Progo, and Miss Titis Noviastari, S.Pd. from SD Negeri Ngestiharjo, Gunung Kidul, shared their experiences and best practices in fostering numeracy skills among students.

They bring a wealth of experience in implementing numeracy strategies that have transformed their students’ learning experiences and adapted to meet the unique needs of their students. The presentations will provide valuable insights for educators interested in improving numeracy education.

To ensure a dynamic and interactive webinar experience, Mr. Marjimun, S.Pd. from SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan, Yogyakarta, and Miss Sumandita Noviani, M.Pd. from SD Negeri Priyan, Bantul, chaired the session. These teachers with extensive experience in mathematics education will steer the discussions in the question-and-answerer session, bringing out key insights from the presentations and encouraging thoughtful exchanges among participants.

Dra. Puji Iryanti, M.Sc.Ed, SEAQiM Deputy Director for Programme (represents the Director), stated: “This webinar represents a significant step forward in the ongoing effort to enhance numeracy education across Southeast Asia, especially for Indonesia, based on the lack of Rapor Pendidikan and PISA results”, in her opening remark.

By learning from the experiences of pilot schools, educators can bring proven strategies back to their classrooms, helping to ensure that all students develop the numeracy skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.
