Yogyakarta – SEAQiM is currently organizing its last regular course in this year entitle Course on Joyful Learning in Mathematics Education for Junior High School Mathematics Teachers. This course opening ceremony was conducted today, 9 October 2019, at LPMP Yogyakarta.
Course on Joyful Learning in Mathematics Education for Junior High School Mathematics Teachers is participated by 30 junior high school mathematics teachers. They come from Lao PDR, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Timor Leste.
In her opening committee report, the Course Supervisor, Ms. Adityarini A.A. Djadir motivated the participants to derive benefit from the course by strengthening networking among mathematics teachers in Southeast Asia. She also highlighted that growing a liking for mathematics in secondary level is not late and thus encouraged the participants to rise to the challenges.
This course aims to enhance junior high school mathematics teachers’ competence in creating joyful mathematics teaching and learning. Accordingly, SEAQiM invites two experts in the field to facilitate the participants. They are Prof. Allan Leslie White from the University of Western Sydney, Australia and Dr. Sharon M. Locke from the Centre for STEM Research, Education, and Outreach, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, United States of America.
