Yogyakarta, November 26, 2024 – In a momentous celebration of National Teacher’s Day, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) hosted Webinar 3 Pojok Numerasi with the theme “Guru Hebat, Indonesia Kuat: Menciptakan Pembelajaran Numerasi yang Menyenangkan dan Bermakna”. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from educators across Indonesia and Southeast Asia, all united virtually in Zoom meeting to enhance numeracy education.
One hundred and forty (140) more attendees were honoured to receive welcoming remarks from SEAQiM Director, Dr Sumardyono. “SEAQiM’s purpose reflected the essence of the event, empowering teachers to foster a love for numeracy in their classrooms”, said the Director in his opening remark. The core of the webinar was a series of engaging presentations from leading educators who shared their insights and innovative approaches to numeracy education.
Ms. Lies Indrawati, M.Pd. from SD Negeri 44 Pontianak Barat, presented the Kombel strategy, a holistic approach that integrates community-based learning to enhance students’ numeracy skills. She inspired the audience with stories of how her students transformed their everyday experiences into powerful numeracy lessons.

One of the event’s highlights was the announcement of winners for the Mathematics Photo Contest 2024: Mathematics in Everywhere, part of SEAQiM’s SMILE Campaign. The contest challenged educators to capture the beauty of mathematics through photography, encouraging them to view the subject from a fresh perspective.
The winning photographs were more than just images. Each snapshot reflected the profound connections between mathematics and the world around us. “Mathematics is not just about numbers; it’s about patterns, relationships, and the beauty of mathematics,” Dr. Sri Wulandari noted. “These photos remind us that mathematics is everywhere, waiting to be explored.” She said in her Five Best Photos announcement.
The event celebrated teachers and equipped them with the tools to make numeracy learning more joyful, meaningful and impactful.
