SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics to Host a One-Day Workshop with Pangandaran’s Education Office

Yogyakarta, Indonesia—In a continued effort to strengthen educational development, the SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) successfully hosted a one-day workshop titled “Pelatihan Penguatan Numerasi bagi Guru Matematika SMP Disdik Pangandaran” in collaboration with the Department of Education, Youth, and Sports of Pangandaran Regency. This event, took place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Labmat Room, BBGP DIY, Yogyakarta.

The activity was initiated by a productive partnership between SEAQiM and the local government of Pangandaran, which demonstrated a strong commitment to uplifting education standards, particularly in mathematics. With forty-six (46) confirmed participants, the workshop provided an invaluable opportunity for educators and government officials from Pangandaran Regency to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Dr. Sumardyono, Director of SEAQiM, welcomed the collaboration. “We are thrilled to partner with the Department of Education in Pangandaran. This workshop serves as a way to share our shared vision of advancing education and raising the quality of mathematics education, but it also underscores the importance of collaboration between local governments and regional educational institutions,” he stated.

In the opening remark, the Head of Junior High School Development, Mr Supri, M.Pd, said that this workshop will empower their teachers with the latest strategies in teaching mathematics, a subject that plays a crucial role in shaping students’ problem-solving skills. Fully supported by Dr. H. M. Agus Nurdin, M.Pd., Head of the Department of Education, Youth, and Sports in Pangandaran Regency, which emphasized the goal of providing students with an education that fosters both intellectual and personal growth.

This workshop marked another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between SEAQiM and Pangandaran’s Education Office. Both institutions are expected to continue sharing resources and expertise in future projects to improve the quality of education in the region.
