Yogyakarta: The demand for SEAQiM’s online in-country course has increased considerably. Several education institutions have shown interest in collaborating with the Centre to conduct this sharing-budget programme. SEAQiM acknowledges that this virtual training is necessary for mathematics teachers in Indonesia and other Southeast Asia countries, mainly when the face-to-face mass meeting is hard to achieve.
In August 2022, SEAQiM successfully carried out its first series of online in-country courses involving mathematics teachers from Indonesian Teachers in Malaysia. The programme, conducted on 8 – 12 August 2022, focused on the Differentiated Instruction approach in teaching mathematics at school and was participated by 30 secondary school teachers from Indonesian schools in Malaysia.
The training utilized two online platforms, Zoom and Google Classroom, to facilitate distance learning. Although the participants and the facilitators could not meet directly, the discussion ran very well. Many participants also expressed their willingness to hold similar activities in the future. However, the Centre noticed that a few participants found it challenging to engage in training due to internet connection problems.
