Magelang, Central Java — A meaningful transformation has begun for teachers under KKG Patriot Tegalrejo following their participation in the In-Country Course on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) for Primary School Teachers, conducted on 6–10 April 2026 in Magelang. The program was organized by SEAQiM in collaboration with the local teacher working group.
Held at the Tegalrejo District Hall, this five-day intensive program demonstrated SEAQiM’s strong commitment as a leading regional institution in empowering teachers and transforming classroom practices across Southeast Asia. Through its direct collaboration with KKG Patriot Tegalrejo, SEAQiM successfully brought professional development opportunities directly to local educators.
SEAQiM brought experienced facilitators, including Afit Istiandaru, Nina Agustyaningrum, and Wisnuningtyas Wirani, who guided thirty-two (32) participants with professionalism, expertise, and a supportive approach. Their presence provided participants with high-quality mentoring from educators who understand both current educational trends and local classroom realities. For example, when learning mathematical modelling, teachers explored how everyday situations can become learning materials. When discussing assessment in RME, they were encouraged to view assessment not merely as tests but as tools for understanding student thinking. During sessions on mathematical literacy, they learned how to help students interpret information, reason logically, and use mathematics to solve real-life challenges.
This program has created a significant and lasting impact on teachers in KKG Patriot Tegalrejo. Participants were equipped with innovative teaching approaches that make mathematics more meaningful, interactive, and relevant to students’ daily lives.
The most important impact of this program lies in what teachers bring back to their schools. Members of KKG Patriot Tegalrejo now return with a stronger understanding of modern mathematics pedagogy, greater confidence in leading classroom discussions, more creative strategies for lesson planning, better skills in designing contextual learning activities, improved ability to assess student understanding, and renewed motivation to continue professional growth.
Through this successful program, SEAQiM once again affirms its powerful mission: empowering teachers, improving classrooms, and shaping the future of education in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
