On December 17, 2024, SMPN 7 Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan hosted a transformative event organized by the SEAQiM team. This special day was marked by a dynamic mix of insightful monitoring, educational observations, and audience engagement.
The event began with a warm welcome and purposeful interactions from SMPN 7 Banjarmasin’s dedicated SEAQiM’s regular course alumni. Upon arrival, the SEAQiM team engaged in meaningful discussions with the school principal, Mr. Kapul, M.Pd., who expressed endless support for initiatives aimed at professional development and advancing education within the school. As the team conversed, Ms. Hanny Maya Sari, S.Pd., an alumnus of the 2022 SEAQiM Regular Course in STEM in Mathematics Education for Junior High School Mathematics Teachers, prepared her classroom for an engaging observational session.
The second session of the day took the team into a classroom observation, where Ms. Hanny led an eighth-grade mathematics class. The lesson centred on gradients in the context of ramps, blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This approach fosters the students, encouraging active participation and critical thinking. The classroom atmosphere reflected the innovative teaching strategies obtained during the SEAQiM programs.
The day continued with a comprehensive dialogue session involving school leaders, including the principal and vice Principal for Curriculum Affairs, Ms. Yuliati Astina, S.P., M.Pd., and fellow mathematics teachers, including alumni Ms. Ratna Melisa, S.Pd., and Mr. Hendra Wahyudi, S.Pd., a 2019 alumnus of the Regular Course on Teaching Mathematics through Algebra. This session was a platform for sharing SEAQiM’s programs and exploring avenues for collaboration.
The event highlighted alumni’s invaluable role in fostering academic excellence and inspiring students and educators. It also underscored SEAQiM’s commitment to empowering educators through innovative programs and collaborative engagements. This gathering strengthened ties between SEAQiM and SMPN 7 Banjarmasin and planted seeds of inspiration for future education.
