YOGYAKARTA – The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) successfully hosted an International Webinar on Monday, 13 July 2026, as part of the celebration of its 17th anniversary. The event attracted overwhelming interest from the education community, with registrations exceeding the capacity of the virtual meeting room.
This year’s webinar featured the timely and highly relevant theme, “Enhancing Mathematics Learning: Integrating ICT and Flipped Classroom for Differentiated Instruction.” The topic was carefully selected to provide educators with fresh insights into creating engaging, adaptive, and technology-enhanced mathematics learning experiences.
The strong enthusiasm from participants quickly filled the Zoom meeting room, which had a capacity of 100 attendees, shortly after the event began. Participants joined not only from Indonesia but also from various countries across Southeast Asia. Most attendees were mathematics teachers, academics, and education practitioners eager to enhance and update their teaching methodologies.
To explore the topic in depth, SEAQiM invited international expert Dr. Peter Esperanza, an American as the keynote speaker. During his presentation, Dr. Esperanza clearly explained how the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and the Flipped Classroom approach can serve as an effective strategy for implementing differentiated instruction in mathematics classrooms.
“This approach enables students to learn according to their individual pace and learning styles, with technology serving as a bridge to facilitate personalized learning,” he explained during his presentation.
The engaging presentation sparked lively discussions throughout the webinar. Participants remained highly engaged despite attending virtually, as reflected in the active chat box, which received a total of 66 questions. This remarkable level of interaction demonstrated the participants’ strong curiosity and eagerness to apply these innovative teaching strategies in their own schools.
Through the celebration of its 17th anniversary, SEAQiM once again reaffirmed its commitment to leading efforts to improve the quality of mathematics education, not only in Indonesia but also throughout the Southeast Asian region.
