SEAQiM Strengthens Impact of RME Training Through Monitoring and Evaluation at SMP N 1 Purwokerto

On November 29, 2024, a team from SEAQiM, comprising Ms Ummy Salmah, Ms Rini Handayani, and Mr Abadi, conducted a monitoring and evaluation visit to SMP N 1 Purwokerto. The visit aimed to engage with Mr. Sapto Sri Nugroho, an alumnus of SEAQiM’s Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) course and STEM Camp, and assess the implementation and impact of the program.

The team was warmly received by Mr. Maryono, the school principal of SMP N 1 Purwokerto. In his remarks, Mr Maryono expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the monitoring and evaluation initiative. He emphasised SEAQiM’s training programs’ positive impact on teachers and students. He shared that alumni of the course, such as Mr. Sapto, have significantly contributed to the active engagement of the Mathematics Teacher’s Working Group (MGMP) in Purwokerto.

Notably, the teacher’s working group (MGMP) has proactively organised various professional development programs for teachers, fostering a collaborative learning environment. Furthermore, Mr Maryono highlighted an upcoming MGMP initiative: a STEM competition for students across schools in Banyumas Regency, demonstrating the far-reaching benefits of SEAQiM’s training programs.

The visit underscored SEAQiM’s commitment to enhancing the quality of mathematics education through continuous support and collaboration with schools and educators.
