On November 25, 2024, the Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) Team from SEAQiM visited two alumni of the regular training programs at Darul Hikam Integrated School, Lembang, Bandung. The two alumni, who happen to teach at the same school but at different levels, are Ms. Dewi Oktaviani, an alumna of JL 2019 and RME 2023, and Ms. Dini Asri Kusnia Dewi, an alumna of ICT 2023. The SEAQiM team, consisting of Gusnandar Yoga Utama, Arif Kurniawan, Tika Setiawati, and Lely Dian Puspita, was warmly welcomed by the school principal and staff.
The Monev activities began with classroom observations: the junior high school class taught by Ms. Dewi and the senior high school class taught by Ms. Dini Asri, also known as Ms. Dias. After observing each class, the team conducted interviews with the two teachers, their colleagues, the school principal, and students. This was done to assess the impact and changes brought by the alumni after participating in SEAQiM’s training programs.
Mr. Muhammad Ilyas Nasrulloh, the junior high school principal, provided positive feedback for both teachers. Ms. Dias and Ms. Dewi demonstrate effective teaching approaches that positively influence students. Ms. Dias emphasizes discipline in the classroom, fostering a sense of responsibility among students, while Ms. Dewi prioritizes enjoyable learning with a flexible and cheerful approach, making mathematics more engaging for students. The learning content has improved, with more detailed and student-centered materials. Classroom activities have become more engaging, shifting students’ attitudes from learning out of obligation to understanding their own needs. This progress is reflected in educational reports, showing better student engagement and academic achievements.
The visit highlighted the significant contributions of SEAQiM’s training programs in enhancing teaching quality and fostering positive changes in the classroom. The feedback from the school principal, colleagues, and students demonstrated the lasting impact of the professional development programs on the alumni’s teaching methods and student engagement. It is hoped that these improvements will inspire continued growth and innovation in teaching practices, ultimately benefiting the broader educational community.
