Yogyakarta – May 3, 2024, in commemoration of National Education Day 2024, an insightful webinar titled “Webinar Pojok Numerasi: Bergerak Bersama, Memperkuat Kemampuan Numerasi Siswa Indonesia melalui Pembelajaran yang Menyenangkan” took centre stage emphasizing the pivotal role of numeracy in shaping modern education. The webinar organized by SEAQiM reached grand success and featured prominent educators and experts in numeracy.
This first webinar gained momentum to launch “Program Pojok Numerasi”, initiated by SEAQiM, which promises to transform the way students learn, improving numeracy skills among students and engaging with mathematical concepts. This program campaigns numeracy skills and creates a space for students to explore various activities to develop numeracy skills at school.
Dr Sumardyono, the Director of SEAQiM, officially launched the program and continued with the introduction of a new program focusing on Strengthening Numeracy Skills through Ethnomathematics and the SMILE Campaign. The event peaked in festivity and was witnessed by more than 370 participants across Indonesia via Zoom meeting.
SEAQiM proudly presents three (3) keynote speakers as the main magnet. The honourable keynote speaker from Universitas PGRI Delta Sidoarjo, Spesialis Numerasi Article 33, Ms Nurina Ayuningtyas, highlighted the importance of nurturing problem-solving skills through numeracy. She underscored the need for adaptive teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote numeracy as a fundamental competency for lifelong success.
Dr Jero Budi Darmayasa from Universitas Borneo Tarakan spotted Ethnomathematics-based Numeracy Learning with an insightful presentation that connects mathematics with Indonesia’s rich and diverse culture based on his research. Meanwhile, the last speaker, Dr Sumardyono, presented Fun and Joyful Learning for Numeracy Enhancement.
Interactive discussions delved into practical strategies for each session, empowering participants to exchange ideas. The sessions were moderated by Ms Realita Mahanani (SDN 2 Gadingharjo), Ms Siti Khatijah (SDN Ploso), and Mr Sumardi (SDN Depok 1). They are three of ten teachers from the Piloting School of Program Pojok Numerasi.
As National Education Day concluded, the webinar marked a significant milestone in promoting numeracy innovation. Participants emerged inspired and energized, ready to embark on a revolution in numeracy skills.
