Yogyakarta – Friday, February 23, 2024 SEAQiM received a visitation from Mathematics Teachers Working Group (MGMP) of Kabupaten Banyumas initiated by the Head of MGMP Matematika SMP Kab. Banyumas, Mr Sapto Sri Nugroho. The event was held onsite at Conference Room SEAQiM, and aimed to enrich teaching methodologies and equip junior high school mathematics teachers of Kabupaten Banyumas with innovative approaches to integrate computational thinking into the mathematics curriculum. The event was packed under the theme “One-day Training on Computational Thinking for Junior High School Mathematics Teachers of MGMP Banyumas”.
Led by Ms Ummy Salmah and Mr Bungkus Dias Prasetyo, training specialists of SEAQiM, the training session commenced with an insightful overview of computational thinking concepts and their significance in modern education. Participants were introduced to various computational thinking strategies tailored to the context of mathematics instruction, emphasizing problem-solving, algorithmic reasoning, and logical analysis.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in interactive activities designed to deepen their understanding of computational thinking principles and explore practical implementation strategies. From collaborative problem-solving exercises, teachers had the opportunity to apply computational thinking concepts in real-world mathematical contexts, fostering creativity and critical thinking skills among students.
Mr Riyadi Setyarsono, S.Pd., Kasi Kurikulum Dinas Pendidikan Banyumas, underscored the importance of integrating computational thinking into mathematics education, stating, “Kurikulum Merdeka” comes in various patterns, and Banyumas placed at 1st rank in PMM which is obtained from the results of hard work and smart work of the great teachers. Now our presence will demand knowledge and enrich the teachers of MGMP Banyumas. We need to educate the characters of students to contribute to forming a truly golden generation”. Meanwhile, Dr Sumardyono, SEAQiM Director, warmly welcomed the visitation with insightful training to create a supportive network where educators can learn from each other, share experiences, and ultimately inspire excellence in mathematics education.
As the training drew to a close, participants received certificates of completion, recognizing their commitment to professional development and their dedication to advancing mathematics education in Kabupaten Banyumas. It underscores the MGMP’s commitment to fostering continuous improvement and professional development and remains optimistic about the transformative impact on mathematics education in Kabupaten Banyumas.
