Basic competence on mathematics skills for in elementary schools  require  students  to  apply  mathematical  concepts  to solve everyday problems. These problems are generally packaged  in  the  form  of  word  problems.  Figure  1  is  an  example  of  a  daily  problem  whose  solution  involves  the  application   of   mathematical   concepts.   Different   colors   of  post-it  notes  have  the  potential  to  spark  math-related  discussions.
