Yogyakarta, 7 October 2025 — The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel in Mathematics (SEAQIM) warmly welcomed an academic delegation from the Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (PGSD), UPI Kampus Tasikmalaya, for a meeting on prospective collaborations in advancing education, research, and community service.
The visit was part of UPI Tasikmalaya’s ongoing efforts to strengthen education, research, and community engagement through institutional partnerships. The delegation consisted of six lecturers and one administrative staff member, led by Dr Ghulam Hamdu, Head of the PGSD Study Program.
Throughout the meeting, both institutions shared their visions and discussed potential initiatives that align with SEAQiM’s mission to enhance the quality of mathematics education across Southeast Asia. Topics of discussion included capacity-building programs for teachers, collaborative workshops, joint research initiatives, and potential engagement in SEAQiM’s flagship projects that promote innovative and contextual mathematics learning.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Director of SEAQiM, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the value of partnerships with higher education institutions.
“We are delighted to welcome our colleagues from UPI Tasikmalaya. SEAQiM believes that through meaningful partnerships, we can reflect on our shared vision of developing competent, creative, and reflective educators who can lead positive change in mathematics education.”
The discussion was both productive and insightful, fostering a strong sense of shared purpose between the two institutions. Dr. Wulandari also highlighted SEAQiM’s openness to future joint programs and the possibility of involving UPI Tasikmalaya lecturers and students in the Centre’s upcoming initiatives.
Representing the visiting delegation, Dr. Ghulam Hamdu expressed appreciation for SEAQiM’s warm reception and affirmed UPI Tasikmalaya’s commitment to fostering sustainable academic cooperation.
“We sincerely thank SEAQiM for the hospitality and openness shown to us today. We hope to synergize our expertise and resources to create impactful programs that will benefit both our institutions and the broader educational community,” said Dr. Ghulam.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation agreement between UPI Kampus Tasikmalaya and SEAQIM. Both parties expressed optimism that the forthcoming partnership will yield innovative initiatives that contribute to the professional growth of teachers and enhance the quality of mathematics education in Indonesia and beyond.
