Strengthening Educators, Shaping the Future: SEAQiM Socializes 2026 Programs in Bandung

Bandung, 17 December 2025 — SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel in Mathematics (SEAQiM) conducted a face-to-face Socialization of SEAQiM Programs 2026 in Bandung, Indonesia, under the theme “Strengthening Educators, Shaping the Future.”

The event aimed to introduce SEAQiM’s 2026 programs while providing teachers with opportunities to participate and collaborate in activities aligned with their interests and professional needs. The socialization was attended by approximately 140 participants, consisting of elementary school teachers and members of KKG SD, as well as junior secondary mathematics teachers and members of MGMP Mathematics in Bandung.

Held at Asmila Boutique Hotel, the program was divided into two sessions. The morning session for elementary school teachers featured a presentation on SEAQiM Programs 2026 delivered by Dra. Puji Iryanti, M.Sc.Ed. (SEAQiM Deputy Director for Administration), followed by a session on contextual mathematics learning titled “Mathematics in Everyday Life” facilitated by Wisnuningtyas Wirani, M.Sc. (SEAQiM). The session highlighted practical ways to connect mathematics with daily activities such as shopping, work, sports, and technology, making learning more meaningful and enjoyable for students.

The afternoon session, dedicated to junior secondary mathematics teachers, focused on insights into the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and its implications for mathematics instruction. This session was facilitated by Dra. Puji Iryanti, M.Sc.Ed. and Wisnuningtyas Wirani, M.Sc., encouraging teachers to reflect on global standards and classroom practices that support students’ mathematical literacy.

Both sessions concluded with interactive discussions moderated by the SEAQiM Team, providing space for participants to exchange ideas and explore potential collaboration with SEAQiM. Through this socialization, SEAQiM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting educators and strengthening mathematics education across Southeast Asia.
