Bangkok, Thailand – 9–10 February 2026 — The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Mathematics (SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics/SEAQiM) participated in the 5th SEAMEO Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Strategy Workshop, held at Mövenpick BDMS Wellness Resort, Bangkok, Thailand.
SEAQiM was represented by Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Director of SEAQiM, who joined SEAMEO Centre and Network Directors, SEAMEO Secretariat leadership, MEL experts, and partner representatives in a high-level consultation aimed at strengthening SEAMEO’s organisation-wide Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning system.
The workshop was convened to achieve strategic alignment and secure leadership endorsement for the next phase of SEAMEO’s MEL system development. Participants discussed refinements to indicators, integration of qualitative and gender-responsive data, and enhanced coordination between SEAMEO Centres and the Secretariat to ensure robust reporting and evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
During the two-day workshop, Directors reviewed validated results from the FY 2024/2025 MEL cycle, reflected on challenges and lessons learned, and agreed on priority actions for the upcoming FY 2025/2026 reporting cycle. Discussions also focused on clarifying roles and responsibilities, strengthening verification and quality assurance mechanisms, and aligning MEL processes with the SEAMEO Strategic Plan 2021–2030 and regional education frameworks.
Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto emphasized SEAQiM’s commitment to contributing to SEAMEO’s organisational learning and accountability framework, highlighting the importance of consistent data interpretation and strategic use of evidence to enhance regional mathematics education initiatives.
The workshop concluded with agreements on key MEL refinements, priority actions, and next steps to ensure a coherent and effective MEL cycle across SEAMEO Centres and Networks. These outcomes are expected to strengthen SEAMEO’s capacity to capture regional impact and support informed policy and programmatic decisions.
