Yogyakarta, 3 October 2025 – SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) has successfully conducted the Math and Art Workshop on 1–3 October 2025, with the theme “Application of Mathematics in Batik Patterns.” The event was officially opened by the Director of SEAQiM, Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, and brought together 28 mathematics teachers from Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra.
The workshop aimed to provide teachers with new perspectives on integrating mathematics into art, particularly through batik design. Throughout the sessions, participants explored various mathematical concepts such as geometry transformation, tessellation, and fractals, and directly applied them in hands-on batik-making activities at Tingal Art Borobudur, Magelang.
This initiative is part of SEAQiM’s commitment to enhancing mathematics learning by connecting it with cultural heritage and creativity. By bridging mathematics and art, the workshop not only enriched teachers’ skills but also inspired innovative approaches to engage students in mathematics.
SEAQiM hopes that this program will encourage teachers to apply their new insights in the classroom, creating meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences for students.
