JAKARTA, On January 28, 2015, H.E. Prof. Dr. Pham Vu Luan, SEAMEO Council President cum Minister of Education and Training, Vietnam met with a delegation of 6 SEAMEO Centres at SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, Jakarta, Indonesia.
During the Welcoming Ceremony, the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics, Professor Subanar, PhD, briefed the President and Delegationon the Center’s accomplishments since 2010. The Director also described the Center’s respective plans for actions in the upcoming years and beyond, including major activites and services such as regular and in-country courses on teaching and learning methods, research projects on Mathematics Regional Wide Assessment (MaRWA), and plans for developing a mathematics education knowledge repository.
The President congratulated all the six Indonesian Center’s achievements, especially its efforts in the international cooperation with Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, as well as collaboration with SEAMEO regional centers. The President suggested that the Centers continue to strengthen its international collaboration, including cooperative joint ventures with international institutions and organizations in order to become one of the leading training centers in the region. On this occasion, the President also visited the SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics exhibition stand in which Professor Subanar, the Director of SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics provide detailed information of the Centre’s programme. Dr. Wahyudi, Deputy Director for Programme, had the opportunity to show and demonstrate a set of Magic Cards to the President .
