In an ambitious move to enhance students’ numeracy skills, SEAQiM has rolled out its pioneering “Program Pojok Numerasi” in ten (10) pilot schools across Yogyakarta. This program aims to revolutionize mathematical learning through innovative teaching methodologies adjusted to local educational contexts.
July 1-3, 2024, is scheduled for the 2nd phase, and July 30-31, 2024, is scheduled for the 3rd monitoring of the ten (10) selected pilot schools in Yogyakarta. They will serve as testing grounds for integrating Pojok Numerasi into the teaching and learning curriculum, with plans for broader implementation pending successful outcomes and feedback from educators, students, and parents. SEAQiM has committed resources and expertise to ensure the program’s effectiveness and sustainability in enhancing mathematical education.
Selected schools are enthusiastic about the program’s potential to transform mathematical learning experiences. Starting with four schools on July 1, SD Muhammadiyah Prambanan and SD Negeri Depok reported the progress in conducting Pojok Numerasi, including the obstacles they faced during implementation. The rest of the schools, SD Negeri Priyan and SD Sabdodadi Keyongan, received valuable input from the SEAQiM academic team regarding the progress of Pojok Numerasi.
SDN Wonosari 1 and SDN Ngestiharjo are equipped with the necessary methodologies to implement the curriculum effectively on July 2. Collaborative mentoring was also conducted in the last-day venue at SD Negeri 2 Gadingharjo, SD Muhammadiyah Pakem, and SD Negeri Ploso. Their commitment to developing Pojok Numerasi marked the impact of Program Pojok Numerasi.
On July 30-31, ten pilot schools reported and showed progress on their respective Pojok Numerasi. This indicated that they already had running projects based on activity and the developing media. They used media from the previous workshop held by SEAQiM, which was also supported with easy and accessible media. All pilot schools were already well prepared as the model schools for Pojok Numerasi.
Some progress that can be conveyed in the third monitoring is that some schools conduct selection and involve students as Agen Numerasi, create numeracy-based activities, e.g., cooking classes, gardening and farming, which involve all teachers and students, market day, and make special days to implement numeracy.
SEAQiM remains committed to monitoring and evaluating the program’s effectiveness through comprehensive evaluations and feedback mechanisms. The insights gained will inform the future potential scalability of Pojok Numerasi across Indonesia and beyond.
As SEAQiM continues to advance educational excellence, the second phase of Pojok Numerasi reaffirms its commitment to nurturing a generation of proficient mathematicians and analytical thinkers prepared to address global challenges.
