What an inspiring milestone! The Joint Conference of the 9th International Symposium on Mathematics Education and Innovation (ISMEI) and the 12th International Conference on Mathematics, Science, and Education (ICMSE) successfully brought together more than 200 educators, researchers, academics, and education practitioners on 14–15 October 2026. Hosted at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) and accessible via Zoom, this remarkable gathering became a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas, sharing innovative research, and strengthening collaboration toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and transformative future for education.
An outstanding lineup of keynote speakers made the conference even more exceptional! Featuring distinguished experts from industry and academia, the conference welcomed Mahfuza Akter, Ph.D. (Sigma-Aldrich Corporation); Prof. Dr. Matthias Ludwig (Institut für Didaktik der Mathematik und Informatik); Prof. Dr. Franck Lavigne (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University); Prof. Dr. Gillian Kidman (Monash University); Dr. Nguyen Phu Hoang Lan (Vietnam National University); Dr. Ardhi Prabowo, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Universitas Negeri Semarang); and Prof. Ismunandar, Ph.D. (Akademi Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia). Their expertise and perspectives enriched the discussions, inspiring participants to explore new possibilities in mathematics education, STEM, computational thinking, and interdisciplinary learning. The conference was further elevated by the valuable contributions of invited speakers Dr. Nurul Hanis Binti Azhan (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), Kanokporn Kaewsong, Ph.D. (Kasetsart University), Dr. Dewi Mustikangtyas, M.Si.Med. (Universitas Negeri Semarang), Dr. Atina Ahdika (Universitas Islam Indonesia), and Dr. Farida Nurhasanah, M.Pd. (Universitas Sebelas Maret), whose insights added depth and diverse perspectives to the conference dialogue.
Under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Futures through Mathematics, Natural Sciences, STEM, and Transformative Education,” with a special focus on “STEM + Computational Thinking: Shaping the Future through Sustainable and Inclusive Mathematics Education,” ISMEI–ICMSE 2026 reaffirmed the importance of connecting research, innovation, and classroom practice. The successful participation of more than 200 educators reflects the growing enthusiasm for meaningful collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the education community. More than a conference, this gathering was a celebration of ideas, partnerships, and shared commitments to empowering educators and preparing learners for tomorrow’s challenges. A heartfelt appreciation goes to all keynote and invited speakers, participants, organizing committees, and partners who made this event a success. Together, let us continue transforming mathematics and science education into joyful, innovative, and impactful learning experiences for all!
As the conference concluded, its message resonated beyond the two days of presentations and discussions: the future of mathematics education depends on the collective ability to innovate responsibly, collaborate meaningfully, and ensure that every learner has the opportunity to thrive. The successful of this event marked not merely the completion of an international academic event, but a renewed commitment to advancing sustainable, inclusive, and transformative education.
