YOGYAKARTA – The SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) has officially concluded its intensive training program, the Regular Course on Integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Senior High School Mathematics Education 2026. Held from 6 to 19 August 2026, the programme was officially opened by the Director of SEAQiM, Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, and aimed to equip high school mathematics teachers with advanced pedagogical strategies and digital tools—including the latest applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education—to create an interactive and meaningful learning environment.
The course brought together a diverse group of 30 outstanding mathematics educators. The cohort comprised 19 female and 11 male participants, representing a vibrant mix of SEAMEO member countries, including Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand. They were joined by 24 dedicated teachers from various provinces across the Indonesian archipelago, extending from Sumatra to Nusa Tenggara.
Throughout the course, participants engaged in rigorous academic sessions, collaborative workshops, and hands-on digital explorations. These sessions were expertly guided by distinguished facilitators and experts: Mr. Artorn Nokkaew, Ph.D. and Ms. Suparat Chuechote, M.Sc. from Naresuan University, Thailand; Dr. Lulu Choirun Nisa, S.Si., M.Pd. from UIN Walisongo Semarang; and Mr. Rizky, M.Kom. from AMIKOM Yogyakarta. Alongside the dedicated SEAQiM academic team, they shared invaluable insights and practical applications of modern educational technology, from dynamic geometry software to AI-driven learning platforms.
After nearly two weeks of intensive classroom learning with the experts, the participants put their knowledge into practice during the “Real Teaching” session, which served as one of the core practical activities of the programme. Held at the prestigious SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta and welcomed warmly by the Principal, Mrs. Fadiyah Suryani, S.Pd., M.Pd.Si., the participants had the unique opportunity to implement their newly acquired ICT integration skills in actual classrooms. This session not only served as a pedagogical testing ground but also facilitated a beautiful cross-cultural exchange between the international teachers and the local students.
Beyond academics, SEAQiM also celebrated the rich cultural diversity of the region. A spectacular “Culture Show” was held, where participants formed six regional groups to perform traditional dances, songs, and cultural medleys from their respective countries and provinces. This event highlighted SEAMEO’s core mission of fostering mutual understanding and lifelong friendships across Southeast Asia.
The programme was officially closed by Dr. Samsul Hadi, the Deputy Director for Administration of SEAQiM, during a solemn Closing Ceremony. In the committee report, the Course Supervisor commended the participants’ incredible energy, teamwork, and resilience in adapting to new technological challenges.
By the end of the course, all 30 participants successfully completed their evaluations and requirements. They now return to their respective institutions not only as mathematics teachers but as digital innovators ready to inspire the next generation of students.
