Yogyakarta, Indonesia – 4–6 August 2026 — SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) successfully organized the SEA Math Camp for SEAQiM Alumni under the theme “Preparing Mathematics Teachers for Future Challenges in the Digital Era.” Held at Aula Ki Hajar Dewantara, BBGTK-DIY, the three-day programme brought together 29 alumni of SEAQiM Regular Courses, comprising junior high school mathematics teachers from Central Java, East Java, West Java, the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Banten, Bali, and Malaysia.
The workshop was officially opened and closed by SEAQiM Director, Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, who expressed her highest appreciation to all participants for their remarkable commitment and enthusiasm. She highlighted that the SEA Math Camp was a self-funded programme, making the participants’ dedication even more meaningful.

The SEA Math Camp was designed as a professional development programme to strengthen the competencies of mathematics teachers in responding to the rapidly evolving educational landscape shaped by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and global challenges. As alumni of SEAQiM programmes, participants are expected to become change agents who promote innovative mathematics teaching and contribute to improving education in their schools and communities.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in intensive workshops, collaborative discussions, and hands-on learning experiences facilitated by distinguished experts in mathematics education: Dr. rer. nat. Adi Nur Cahyono from Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia; Dr. Artorn Nokkaew and Ms. Suparat Chuechote from Naresuan University, Thailand.
Participants actively explored innovative pedagogical approaches that integrate technology, coding, STEM, outdoor learning, and inclusive teaching practices into mathematics classrooms. Through practical activities and collaborative learning, they developed ideas for implementing these approaches in their schools while strengthening their professional networks among SEAQiM alumni.
Beyond the learning sessions, the programme fostered collaboration, knowledge exchange, and lasting friendships among mathematics educators who share a common vision of improving mathematics education in Southeast Asia. Participants are expected to disseminate the knowledge and innovative practices gained during the camp within their schools and professional communities, multiplying the programme’s impact.
The successful implementation of the SEA Math Camp reflects SEAQiM’s continued commitment to empowering mathematics teachers with future-ready competencies and supporting the development of innovative, equitable, and technology-enhanced mathematics education. Through initiatives such as this, SEAQiM continues to strengthen its alumni network and regional collaboration, preparing mathematics teachers to meet the challenges and opportunities of education in the digital era.
