SEAQiM Conducts Audience Meetings with Education Offices of Sleman and Kulon Progo to Explore SEA-PLM Collaboration

Yogyakarta, 19 June 2026 – SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel in Mathematics (SEAQiM) conducted audience meetings with the Education Offices of Sleman Regency and Kulon Progo Regency as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration in the implementation of the Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics (SEA-PLM) initiative.

The audience meetings served as a follow-up to the SEA-PLM Socialization Session held on 5 May 2026, which was attended by education stakeholders from both regencies. SEA-PLM is a regional learning assessment program designed by and for Southeast Asian countries to monitor student learning outcomes in reading and mathematics at the end of primary education (Grade 5), while also supporting capacity building across participating education systems.

Led by Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Director of SEAQiM, the delegation was joined by members of the Boards of Directors of SEAQiM and SEAQiL. The meetings aimed to discuss potential areas of cooperation and explore opportunities for local participation in SEA-PLM activities and initiatives.

The first audience meeting was held with the Education, Youth, and Sports Office of Kulon Progo Regency, headed by Drs. Nur Wahyudi, M.M., on the morning of 19 June 2026. The discussion focused on strengthening educational quality through evidence-based policies and the utilization of assessment data to improve learning outcomes in primary education.

Later in the day, the SEAQiM delegation met with Mustadi, S.Sos., M.M., Head of the Education Office of Sleman Regency. During the meeting, both parties exchanged perspectives on the importance of regional assessment frameworks and collaborative efforts to enhance educational quality and student achievement in the region.

As a SEAMEO Centre dedicated to the professional development of teachers and education personnel in mathematics, SEAQiM continues to work closely with national and local stakeholders to advance educational excellence and contribute to the achievement of sustainable educational development throughout the region.
