The SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Mathematics (SEAQiM) proudly collaborated with Universitas Jember in organizing a special public lecture aimed at enriching the understanding of STEM education among future mathematics teachers. Held on 28 October 2025, the event gathered 150 students from the Mathematics Education Department, who enthusiastically participated in this insightful learning session.
The session featured two distinguished speakers from SEAQiM’s academic team. Mr. Gusnandar Yoga Utama opened the lecture with a presentation on “Pengenalan Konsep Dasar STEM” (Introduction to Basic Concepts of STEM). He guided participants to explore the foundations and philosophy of STEM education, emphasizing its importance in developing creative, critical, and innovative problem solvers prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.
Following the session, Mr. Bungkus Dias Prasetyo delivered an engaging talk on “Implementasi STEM dalam Pembelajaran Matematika” (Implementation of STEM in Mathematics Learning). Through practical examples and classroom applications, he demonstrated how mathematics can serve as a central discipline that connects science, technology, and engineering, inspiring students to think holistically and contextually.

This collaborative initiative underscored SEAQiM’s continuous commitment to supporting teacher education institutions across Indonesia in advancing STEM-oriented pedagogy. By empowering future educators with relevant knowledge and pedagogical skills, SEAQiM and Universitas Jember aim to nurture a new generation of teachers who can transform mathematics learning into meaningful, inquiry-based experiences for their students.
