SEAQiM Welcomes Interns from Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon: Strengthening Collaboration for Impactful Education

Yogyakarta, 28 July 2025 — SEAQiM once again opens its doors to young talents from Universitas Muhammadiyah Cirebon (UMC). A handover ceremony for student interns was held warmly on Monday morning at the SEAQiM Meeting Room.

Mr. Jajang Rahmatudin represented UMC and conveyed his institution’s commitment to fostering and continuing impactful collaboration. In his address, Mr. Rahmatudin recalled that UMC had already sent student interns to SEAQiM in 2023 and that this year, in 2025, the university is sending three more outstanding students to join SEAQiM’s internship program.

“This internship aligns with the spirit of the Program Kompetisi Kampus Berdampak (PKKB), previously known as Program Kompetisi Kampus Merdeka (PKKM), a competitive grant program initiated by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology. It aims to encourage universities to accelerate the implementation of the Kampus Merdeka policy and to achieve key performance indicators,” Mr. Rahmatudin explained.

He added that the goal is not just to place students in an internship for formality, but to equip them with the professional skills, values, and confidence to excel after graduation. “We truly hope these three students can acquire additional competencies at SEAQiM that will support their academic and professional growth. We also believe they can contribute meaningfully and deliver the expected outcomes during their time here,” he said.

Dr. Sri Wulandari Danoebroto, Director of SEAQiM, warmly welcomed the interns and expressed appreciation for the sustained partnership between SEAQiM and UMC.

“Our collaboration has gone beyond internships. We’ve had in-country training programs involving high school and vocational school teachers in Cirebon. So, this internship program is a continuation of a mutually beneficial relationship that we truly value,” Dr. Wulan stated.

In her motivational message to the incoming interns, Dr. Wulan emphasized the importance of both technical and interpersonal skills. “While you’re here, we hope you sharpen your hard skills, particularly in supporting SEAQiM’s programs that involve teachers across Southeast Asia. But equally important is the cultivation of soft skills: your ability to interact, communicate, collaborate, and grow as part of a team. These are the qualities that will define your success in the real world,” she shared.

The event concluded with a photo session and a brief orientation session for the interns, who expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity. With this renewed collaboration, SEAQiM continues to play a critical role in shaping future-ready educators and professionals, supporting the Indonesian government’s efforts to produce graduates who are academically competent, socially responsible, and globally minded.
